Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville is known for baseball bats, beautiful magnolia trees, the Kentucky Derby, and for being the hometown of Muhammad Ali. Its name pays homage to French King Louis XVI, who assisted the colonists during the American Revolution. Louisville is also the birthplace of several original dishes. Henry Bain sauce, named after its inventor, the head waiter at Louisville's Pendennis Club, is a sweet, tangy, spicy concoction best served with wild game or beef tenderloin. The Hot Brown sandwich was created by the chef of Louisville’s Brown Hotel. It’s an open-faced sandwich topped with turkey, tomato, bacon, and cheese sauce, and then broiled until the cheese sauce turns golden brown. Besides fast horses, the Kentucky Derby is also renowned for popularizing the refreshing mint julep cocktail (made with Kentucky bourbon and fresh mint leaves).

About me:
I am a 28 year old mother of two who is a passionate cook. I buy into Emeril's motto (not "Pork fat rules"!) that "It's a food of love thing", because I put love into everything I cook, and judging by the responses I receive from anyone who partakes of my food, it shows! I am also a grass-roots caterer, just getting my foot in the door, but I know that when my catering business, Shekinah Glory Catering Co., takes off, it will TAKE OFF.......

Egg Salad I

Reviewed on Jul. 4, 2008 by LouisvilleHugger
This recipe is delicious! But I did, however, change it up just a little bit to suit what I had available. I used regular mustard rather than Dijon, and I ADDED a teaspoon of pimentos. I also decreased the amount of onion. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us, it will be PERFECT for summer cook-outs. Oh by the way, I like the fact it only calls for a tablespoon of mayo unlike most the other recipes on this site. As much as I LOVE mayo, more than a tablespoon is not necessary. I made this recipe again tonight (4th of July) but this time I added 3 small boiled potatos (cubed), and a tiny amount of black olives. Again, we loved it. This recipe is a great springboard to other ideas. Thanks again.

I used this marinade at a birhtday cookout and the chicken was the talk of the night. The flavor was wonderful and I can't wait to use this marinade again.

Roasted Potatoes with Greens

Reviewed on Jun. 28, 2008 by LouisvilleHugger
Though this recipe was exactly what I was in the mood for, it was a bit bland for my taste. I did everything the recipe called for, I did not change a thing. I will definitely be making this again but next time I may add more garlic or maybe even some red onion. My boyfriend loved it but it was just "ok" for me.
